Drug turn-in receptacle at Fairview police office nets more than 13 pounds

After one week in service, Fairview's ongoing prescription drug turn-in program netted a total of 13.2 pounds in prescription drugs.

The Fairview Police Department installed the anonymous and secure drug disposal unit Monday, June 13, with the intent of getting expired or unwanted prescription drugs out of the hands of the public, especially kids, and into the hands of law enforcement - no questions asked.

The disposal unit is located in the lobby of the Fairview Police Department, 1300 N.E. Village St., and can be used from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Acceptable items for deposit are prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, medication samples, pet and animal medications, ointments and lotions as well as liquid medications contained in leak-proof containers.
