La Salle off to 6-2 start in Junior State
- Clackamas Review - Sports
La Salle Prep's summer baseball team, the Wigwam Sox, is off to a pretty good start in summer ball.
The Sox put two more games in the win column last week, as they upped their Junior State record to 6-2 with a 7-0 shutout of Molalla and a 16-7 win at Reynolds.
The Sox have also defeated Grant twice (10-1 and 9-4), Gladstone (11-9) and Catlin Gabel (11-3).
Their losses have come at the hands of Hood River (2-1) and Sandy (9-5).
The Sox crushed the ball for no fewer than 19 hits, and nine different players got hits in last Friday's win over Reynolds.
Senior-to-be Alex Reese and sophomores-to-be Austin Vaughn and Kelly Krumm headed the hitting barrage, each of them with three hits.
Senior-to-be Same Davis pitched a one-hitter complete game in the shutout of Molalla, striking out 11.
Senior-to-be Zach Nusbaum starred with his bat, going 3-for-4 with a double, and driving in two runs. Theo Peterson also hit a double and drove in two runs.
La Salle plays Canby on the road tonight at 7, and the Falcons are at Molalla tonight at 6. They return home next Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game with Franklin.
