School volunteer helped nurture young authors
Not all angels are found in heaven. One of them has been volunteering at Harvey Clarke Elementary School in my classroom since 1997.
Connie Tripp started helping students learn to write when her younger son entered my third grade.
Over the course of the past 11 years, hundreds of students have learned how to become young authors through Connie's encouragement and one-on-one instruction during Writers' Workshop.
She has also corrected work, prepared materials, and supported students' growth. Her dedication and commitment to making a difference with our future citizens has been an inspiration to me.
This is her last year of volunteering in my classroom, since I will be retiring in June, and I would like to commend her personally and publicly.
