Next: The Beavers' series at Tucson runs through Sunday. Portland then plays Salt Lake at PGE Park Monday through Thursday, and welcomes Colorado Springs, May 4 through May 7.

• Four relievers have been great in the early going - Andrew Brown (0.68 ERA, 13 1/3 innings through Wednesday), Aaron Rakers (1.64, 11), Royce Ring (1.54, 11) and Leo Rosales (1.00, 9). Scott Strickland needs to be better.

• Tim Stauffer, who had an 11.88 ERA in 8 1/3 innings of relief, went to the disabled list recently because of his nagging biceps injury. 'He just has to get back into a solid, repeatable delivery,' manager Rick Renteria says. 'Having bicep soreness … sometimes you tend to favor an injury or an ill in the body, and it changes the way you do things.'

• Could we see prospect Chase Headley in Portland this season? The third baseman started the year hot, hitting .339 through 16 games at Class AA San Antonio.
