Oregon City man dies two days after motorcycle accident

Ryan L. Scoggins of Oregon City died Wednesday of head injuries sustained in a Monday afternoon motorcycle accident on Southeast 97th Avenue south of Sunnybrook Boulevard.

Det. Jim Strovink of the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said Scoggins, 55, was just pulling out of a driveway on a large cruising-type motorcycle when he became distracted by something, began fishtailing, and suddenly hit the pavement head-first. Witnesses to the accident said Scoggins was wearing a helmet, Strovink added.

Scoggins was taken Monday to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital's intensive-care unit for treatment of severe head injuries and died there on Wednesday.

Scoggins worked in maintenance for the Clackamas Education Service District and Strovink said he apparently was leaving his workplace when the accident occurred.
