The first Fiat car dealership in Oregon in close to 30 years has landed in Beaverton.
Tonkin Fiat, 9008 S.W. Canyon Road, will celebrate the grand opening of its 'studio dealership' on Saturday, from noon to 7 p.m. The public is invited to the event, which will feature the Rose City Rollers women's racing team, catering by Ciao Vito and Mio Gelato and raffle giveaways courtesy of Hotel Lucia and Oregon-based winery, Angel Vine.
Leading the new dealership for the Italy-based vehicle line is Adam Tonkin, 28, the eldest grandson of Ron Tonkin. The elder Tonkin founded a Chevrolet dealership in 1960 that grew to include 17 Portland-area dealerships, including Acura, Lotus and Fisker outlets in Beaverton.
Adam Tonkin started working as a lot attendant at the Chevrolet dealership at age 7 and rejoined the family business five years ago after studying at University of Southern California and working for the Endeavor Agency.
Tonkin Fiat's hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.tonkinfiat.com .
