Expert on urban coyotes to lecture at PSU

Stanley Gehrt tracked coyotes fitted with radio collars in Chicago

With coyote spottings becoming a regular occurrence in Irvington and other Portland neighborhoods, a group called The Urban Coyote Project is bringing wildlife expert Stanley Gehrt to town.

Gehrt, an assistant professor and extension wildlife specialist at Ohio State University, led an eight-year study of coyotes in Chicago. He tracked 220 radio-collared coyotes over that period.

He'll discuss urban coyotes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, in Smith Center at Portland State University, Room 327-328.
