Two killed, two wounded in Sunday incidents

UPDATE • Police identify shooting, stabbing victims

Portland police have identified Sunday morning's shooting victims.

Leonard James "LJ" Irving, 34, was killed in the incident that occurred shortly after midnight at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Thompson Street. An autopsy performed by the Oregon State Medical Examiner on Monday determined that Irving died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Two other people were wounded in the incident. They are Lamar Lovette Hill, 21, Jeray Lashawn Jessie, 21. Both were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Homicide detectives are asking for the public's help in this investigation. No arrests have been made at this point. At this point in the investigation, detectives have not determined if the shooting is gang-related. Police say the shooting was not random, however.

Police also say a suspect has been detained in a downtown Sunday stabbing death. The incident is not suspected to be gang-related.

Police said 30-year-old Justin Valladmar Lewis was detained at the scene and booked into jail on an unrelated warrant. Detectives are continuing to investigate the disturbance and stabbing and are asking for additional witnesses to come forward with information.

The victim was 33-year-old John Fitzgerald Pinkney, who died of multiple stab wounds.

According to police, Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a disturbance at Northwest Sixth Avenue and Davis Street. When the officers arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed and called medical personnel. He died before they reached the scene, however.
