Pair arrested for bias crime

Good Samaritan injured in Saturday morning incident

Two men were arrested for assaulting a Good Samaritan trying to stop a bias crime early Saturday morning.

According to police, two men started harassing a man because he was gay in the area of Northwest Second and Flanders around 2:57 a.m. Another man came to his aid and was assaulted.

Police were called, found the victim on the sidewalk and called for medical help. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and released.

As the officers were talking to the victims, the suspects returned to the area and were arrested. Shawn Siefke, 28, is charged with third degree assault and second degree intimidation. Christian Sanchez-Villavencio, 21, is charged with third degree assault. Both are lodged in the Justice Center Jail.
