Big Truck Day

WHAT: The city of Fairview provides local kids with the opportunity to see the big trucks and equipment that make their community work. All types of large vehicles from the public and private sectors such as fire trucks, police cars, public works vehicles and other unique pieces of equipment are scheduled to be there.

WHEN: 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 29.

WHERE: Target parking lot, 21500 N.E. Halsey St., Fairview.

Edgefield's 100th birthday celebration

WHAT: Celebrate a century of history at McMenamins Edgefield, which was built in 1911 as the county poor farm. There will be a full day food and drink specials; live music; exhibits and history tours by local Edgefield expert Sharon Nesbit and McMenamins historian Tim Hills; ales, wines and spirits tastings; a balloon artist or two; children's activities and more. Northwest indie rock stars Modest Mouse will perform as part of Concerts on the Lawn.

WHEN: Saturday, July 2. History-specific events run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and property-wide festivities go from 11 a.m. till late.
