Suspects sought in Metzger home invasion robbery, assault
Investigators with the Washington County Sheriff's Office are seeking three suspects in an armed home invasion robbery and assault in Metzger on Thursday.
Based on a description of one suspect from the victim and a witness, deputies are looking for a white man between 25 and 30 with dirty blond hair, about 6 feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds and wearing blue jeans with white shoes, said Sgt. Vance Stimler, sheriff's office spokesman.
A resident in the 9700 block of Southwest Hall Boulevard in the unincorporated community of Metzger called 9-1-1 around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, to report that three subjects entered his apartment and demanded drugs.
One of the suspects was brandishing a gun, and the victim said one of them struck him once in the face with a closed fist while the other ransacked the apartment. He said he did not see the third suspect.
The suspects fled the scene with the resident's cash and other personal items. Sheriff's deputies arrived and attempted without success to track the suspects with a K-9 unit, Stimler said.
They later interviewed a witness who described seeing two young men and a woman hiding in the brush near the crime scene about 15 minutes before the robbery.
Because it was dark, all the witness could see was all three were wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled up, and the witness noticed they did not 'speak with accents,' Stimler said.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 503-629-0111.
