Boat sinks at former Staff-Jennings

by: Portland Fire and Rescue

The Staff-Jennings business at the west end of the Sellwood Bridge has closed, and will be removed as part of the bridge replacement project. But its marina is still there.

And, a 40 ft. privately-owned boat sank there on June 14 while receiving an emergency repair, resulting in gasoline and some oil leaking into the water of the Willamette River.

Portland Fire and Rescue responded, and minimized the leakage with a boom and absorbent materials. The Coast Guard and private contractors got the boat raised by the end of the afternoon.
