Sen. Richard Devlin, D-Tualatin, who has served as vice chair of the National Conference of State Legislatures Budget and Revenue Committee during the past year, was recently elevated to chair of the committee.
The National Conference of State Legislatures was founded in 1975 to provide research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on state issues. One of 15 standing committees, the Budget and Revenue Committee is primarily responsible for protecting states' interests in federal decisions regarding fiscal matters. NCSL's incoming president, State Representative Donna Stone (R-Dover South, Delaware), appointed Devlin to serve as chair of the committee.
In addition to his service on the NCSL budget committee, Devlin has been appointed to two interim committees in the Oregon Senate: Chair of the Senate Committee on Rules and Executive Appointments and a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce and Labor.
'The work done in interim committees will be critical to the success of the February 2008 session, and I look forward to serving on these committees,' said Devlin.
Devlin's district also includes Lake Oswego, West Linn and part of Southwest Portland.
