Volcanoes remember Beavers

It has come to this: Recognition of the Portland Beavers for a century of baseball they brought to the city will take place … in Keizer. The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, a member of the Class A Northwest League, are making Sunday’s 5 p.m. game against the Tri-City Dust Devils their “Salute to the Portland Beavers Night” at Volcanoes Stadium. The Volcanoes plan to display various Beavers memorabilia and welcome former team officials and players from the club that was forced to relocate when owner Merritt Paulson made Portland’s stadium primarily a soccer venue after the 2010 Pacific Coast League season. For fans wearing a Bevos hat or shirt or jacket, etc., admission will be reduced from $8 to $5 at the gate. Call 390-2225 for information, or visit volcanoes baseball.com.
