Oregon native Steffanie Leigh shines in the title role in 'Mary Poppins,' which wraps July 10 at Keller Auditorium. Leigh, who plans to continue with the touring production and then work on Broadway, has never met Julie Andrews, who made the role famous in the 1964 movie.
'I've only watched her many, many times,' she muses.
Leigh would like to ascend as an actor, eventually working in television or movies, a la Andrews.
'I would love to (stay) in New York and work there, and go wherever that takes me, doing roles that are challenging,' she adds.
