Rose Promenade Summer Festival - 9 a.m. to noon, Reynolds High School, 1698 S.W. Cherry Park Road, Troutdale. Nearly 800 square and round dancers are expected to bow to their partners during this three-day festival, which began Friday. Free to attend. Call Tony Haskins at 503-674-0204 for information.

Water Wonders at Blue Lake Park - 1 to 5 p.m., Blue Lake Regional Park, 20500 N.E. Marine Drive, Fairview. Explore how precious water helps plants and creatures thrive, and how to protect it from pollution. Discover activities such as lake creature explorations, water critter origami, water cycle card making or fishy potato stamp printing. Suitable for ages 3 and up; adult supervision is required. Vegetarian Cooking Class - 2 to 4 p.m., Seventh-day Adventist Church, Fellowship Hall, 223 S.E. Cleveland Ave. Join in for an afternoon of preparing healthy, tasty meals, recipe sharing, shopping help, cooking tips and techniques. This is an ongoing class held every second Sunday of the month.


Oxbow Adventures: Forest Games -10:30 a.m. to noon, Oxbow Regional Park, 3010 S.E. Oxbow Parkway. Begin the summer with a laugh in an exciting day of nature games. Search for hidden objects on an 'un-nature trail,' build a mini nature park and play blindfold games in the shaded woods. Suitable for ages 5-10. Meet at the Alder Shelter (group picnic area A); arrive at the park entrance by 10:15 a.m. to get to the area on time. Cost is $2 per participating child (bring small bills). No charge for adults and infant siblings. For childcare centers and other organized groups, payment is required in advance. Park entry is $5 per car, or $7 per bus or 15-passenger vehicle.
