Earlier this month, Lake Oswego police responded to more than 20 calls for dogs-at-large.

Police say this is a time- consuming event that requires a dog to be located, caught, the owner located if possible, or transporting the dog to Clackamas County Animal Control in Oregon City if the owner cannot be found.

An officer can be tied up for several hours on one dog-at-large call. Police remind people to secure dogs at all times.
