Scaffolding will be erected Monday, July 11, in front of the Multnomah County Central Library building on Southwest 10th Avenue, so workers may install a new heating, ventilating and cooling unit in the special collections section.

The scaffolding in the front of the landmark library building will enable workers to get direct access to the second-floor, minimizing disruption for library patrons.

Multnomah County also will install energy-efficient light fixtures in the Central Library, the oldest public library west of the Mississippi River.
