The Uwajimaya Plaza in Beaverton played host to this year's Natsu Matsuri, or Summer Festival, on Saturday, July 2, during the late morning and afternoon.

The Summer Festival is a traditional Japanese occasion filled with music, dance, games, dress and food of the culture. All funds that were raised during the event, which included a silent auction and T-shirt sales, went toward the tsunami relief efforts in Japan.

Event sponsors and supporters included Yoshida Foods International, Dai Ichi International Travel and Uwajimaya Inc., the Oregon Buddhist Temple, Japanese International Baptist Church of Tigard, Konko Church, Salem's Japanese Cultural Society, Sakura Kai, Japanese Student Society of Oregon, Friends of Japan in Oregon and The Yuuyake Shimbun publication.
