Land to the south and east of the city one of seven regional study areas
Though efforts to establish an urban reserve north of the city have failed, Cornelius may still have an opportunity to grow its boundaries.
Metro is studying the inclusion of 210 acres of land south and east of the city limits in its next expansion of the Urban Growth Boundary, set for a vote this October.
Metro will hold a public hearing at the Hillsboro Civic Center on the study areas, which include 1,063 acres south of Hillsboro for residential development and 310 acres along NW Meek Road south of Highway 26 and north of Hillsboro for industrial development.
The Hillsboro open house will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., July 28 at the Hillsboro Civic Center, 150 E Main St., in Hillsboro.
