Wine, Beer and bikeMS
Join in for third annual fundraiser
MULTNOMAH - On Saturday, July 23, Multnomah Village's Journeys will host it's third annual fundraiser for bikeMS: Five River Ride.
During its opening hours of 4 p.m. to midnight, 25 percent of all pub sales will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society through bike MS 2011: Five River Ride's Team Amulet, and a drawing will be held hourly for special bottles of wine from Anne Amie winery.
"I ride because I can and because so many people afflicted with MS cannot," said Kevin Byrne, Team Amulet co-captain and Southwest Portland resident. "The National MS Society has done so much for me over the years, bikeMS has become a way for me to give back."
Team Amulet is among the largest teams in bikeMS 2011: Five River Ride and is dedicated to raising money to ensure no one has to hear the words, "you have MS." Byrne was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1999 while serving as an officer in the U.S. Army and current serves as a blogger for the Veterans Administration's MS Center of Excellence. Riding since 2003, Byrne and his Team Amulet have raised more than $110,000 to make MS a distant memory.
"There are so many people affected by this debilitating disease, and I wanted to do my part to make a difference," said Bob Anthony, owner of Journeys, "What better way than to make it a fun evening in Multnomah Village?"
Journeys, a pub offering rotating taps of regional brews, wines by the glass and an array of food is located at 7771 S.W. Capitol Hwy. It is a 21 and older establishment.
