New Wilsonville Freddies gets solar panels, electric car-charging station
Site is first for Fred Meyer to deploy solar panels
Fred Meyer's new Wilsonville store, set to open July 15, will be the Portland-based chain's first store featuring solar panels, and the fourth for parent company Kroger, which operates some 3,000 stores.
The Wilsonville store will feature nearly 500 rooftop solar panels made by REC Solar, supplying an estimated $8,500 a year of electricity, or 113,702 kilowatt hours.
The Wilsonville Fred Meyer also comes with an electric car-charging station, the first at any Fred Meyer or Kroger store. It's the first of eight Oregon Fred Meyers to be fitted with electric car-charging stations and four in Washington.
