Information from the public safety column comes from the records of the Lake Oswego Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:

11/12/07 9:31 a.m. Items valued at $929 were stolen from a vehicle parked in an open garage. The items included a Bluetooth headset and a bike.

11/12/07 12:56 p.m. A laptop valued at $2,350 was stolen from a Subaru at Stanford's on Kruse Oaks Drive.

11/12/07 8:43 p.m. An employee at a business on Boones FerryRoad took $500 as a loan on this day and was supposed to bring it back by 5 p.m. but did not.

11/13/07 9:02 a.m. At Lake Oswego High School, a student's football bag, with an iPhone, pants and shoes was taken. The alleged theft happened during an earlier football game.

11/13/07 10:40 a.m. A leaf blower and gas can were stolen from a man's backyard shed. The value was about $270.

11/16/07 3:22 p.m. At the Stanford's on Kruse Oaks, $560 in items was stolen. The items included a Bible and leather bag.

11/16/07 8:12 p.m. Bank papers from a man's home were missing and other items had been rearranged in his home. The man knew who the suspect was, but didn't want police to contact him or her.

11/17/07 10:47 a.m. At My Place Deli on Mercantile Drive, two metal tables and chairs were stolen from outside the restaurant.

11/13/07 3:13 p.m. A purple Honda Accord was hit by a tan vehicle.

11/13/07 5:59 p.m. Two drivers were involved in a non-injury accident on Boones Ferry Road and Kruse Way. One of the drivers was cited for driving while suspended.

11/14/07 3:54 p.m. A 2004 Porsche was damaged in a hit-and-run accident on Centerpointe Drive.

11/15/07 5:14 p.m. A 1998 VW Jetta was the victim of a hit and run by a truck from California. The damage to the VW was $300.

11/15/07 5:24 p.m. Two cars were involved in a non-injury accident on Kruse Way. One driver was cited for failure to yield.

11/16/07 9:39 a.m. There was a two-car accident at Second Street. One driver was cited for failure to avoid a stopped vehicle.

11/13/07 8:49 p.m. Keith Adam Vanderwielen, 34, was involved in a three-vehicle accident and arrested on suspicion of DUII on Boones Ferry Road.

11/18/07 3:20 a.m. Dawit Girmai, 34, was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespassing after a woman said Girmai followed her from her car, asked for drugs and tried to get into her apartment.

11/11/07 9:37 a.m. A man whose home had been burglarized the week before said he found a ladder among the trees behind his house and thought the ladder might have been related to the burglary.

11/11/07 2:54 p.m. A woman said her son had just left home without permission and was headed toward downtown Lake Oswego. Police found him at Rossman Park and took him home.

11/11/07 3:15 p.m. Two people in a maroon 1991 Oldsmobile were reportedly casing cars on Boones Ferry Road.

11/11/07 4:11 p.m. A woman driving a white sedan ran a red light on Reese Road and pulled into the Chevron station for gas. She was contacted by police and warned.

11/11/07 4:14 p.m. A man who had a history of falling did not pick up his phone when called. Police checked on him and he was OK.

11/11/07 5:33 p.m. A woman's boyfriend was supposed to be back from a business trip and she could not reach him. Police were able to reach him by phone.

11/11/07 8:26 p.m. Several juveniles were playing loud music at Westlake Park. Officers arrived and issued a citation for unreasonable sound. What's reasonable? Lawrence Welk's greatest hits.

11/11/07 9:25 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a dog that was barking all day. The officer let the dog inside the home.

11/12/07 6:53 a.m. At Our Lady of the Lake, a window was found open and someone was seen walking around inside. Police found no sign of unauthorized entry.

11/12/07 9:11 a.m. A branch with Christmas tree lights was broken off a tree on Second Street. Police contacted the driver of the car that snagged the branch. Lit up like a Christmas tree, the car was easy to spot.

11/12/07 10:59 a.m. A woman reported receiving harassing messages in letters. The threats were directed toward her and her boyfriend, she said.

11/12/07 3:37 p.m. In a local clubhouse, a man was causing problems and refusing to leave.

11/12/07 3:45 p.m. In a black Chevrolet, a man was seen trying to fight with another occupant. Police found the Chevrolet and warned the occupants against road rage behavior.

11/12/07 5:49 p.m. There was a large pile of dirt on Rogers Road. There were no cones around the pile and a caller complained that it might be hard to see. Police placed cones in front of the pile and began searching for a mutant gopher.

11/13/07 1 a.m. A woman complained that her daughter was out of control and screaming at her parents over her break-up with her boyfriend. She had to be restrained by her father. Her parents said she was a manic-depressive and had been drinking.

11/13/07 4:58 a.m. A man was taken back to his apartment after causing a disruption at work, where he was trying to collect his belongings.

11/13/07 6:39 a.m. A homeless person was found sleeping near city hall on A Avenue. The person left when police contacted him.

11/13/07 9:23 a.m. An officer found wood blocking Garibaldi Street. The officer instructed nearby construction workers to not put scrap lumber in the roadway.

11/13/07 3:29 p.m. Popcorn ceiling scrapings were allegedly being dumped at Tryon Creek Park. A man saw this and complained to police, who discovered it was a pile of gravel for a path in the park. A man unloading the gravel was identified as a park worker and not home improvement guru Bob Vila.

11/13/07 5:08 p.m. A large amount of water was seen coming from Bryant Road. Police found that the Lake Grove Water District was flushing hydrants that day.

11/14/07 7 a.m. Police received a hang-up 9-1-1 call and officers responded. They found it was a baby playing with a phone.

11/14/07 7:38 a.m. A suspicious piece of plastic was spotted on Hillshire Drive.

11/14/07 12:33 p.m. At Oswego Veterinary, a man called one of the employees an expletive. He swore in pig Latin, so the animals might understand.

11/14/07 2:52 p.m. A man called police after receiving mail that he thought was a scam. An officer determined it was a legitimate business.

11/14/07 3:18 p.m. A housekeeper was locked out of a residence and said she had left the vacuum system running. The homeowner was contacted and came home.

11/16/07 8:08 a.m. Teen siblings were fighting. When their mother came home, the teens calmed down.

11/15/07 10:02 a.m. The railroad crossing arms were down on Boones Ferry and there was no train in sight. Police found the railroad workers were at the site.

11/15/07 11:36 a.m. A car was parked on the wrong side of the road on Hemlock Street. The driver was warned for parking against the flow of traffic.

11/15/07 1:23 p.m. After a tenant was evicted from an apartment, the owners said the unit was damaged and items were missing.

11/16/07 1:20 a.m. At the post office on Boones Ferry Road, police found a door that was damaged.

11/17/07 6:26 p.m. Police received a report of a dark Honda with a loud muffler circling an area around Orchard Way for several hours. The Honda owner adjusted his GPS and stopped going around in circles.

11/18/07 12:43 p.m. A woman reported that she was followed to church by a man in a white, older Mercedes-Benz. Officers said that was not a crime, and they left a business card on the door of the car.

11/18/07 9:25 p.m. A woman's 15-year-old daughter was reportedly home alone and hearing noises. The house was checked and all was found secured.

11/19/07 9:09 a.m. An injured, pregnant goose was in a parking lot on Boones Ferry Road. An officer checked and found the goose had lived at the location for five years and was cared for by nearby shop employees.

11/19/07 2:40 p.m. A woman said she was being stalked. The alleged stalker was found sitting in her car smoking cigars.

11/19/07 3:10 p.m. A catering truck had been parked on Fourth Avenue for an unusually long time. An officer marked the tires and attempted to contact the owner.

11/19/07 3:25 p.m. An employee in a business on South State Street had been harassing fellow employees and came in and dropped a bag of urine in the middle of the floor.

11/19/07 4:05 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the home of a man who wanted to speak with police about restoring his integrity. The report said he had made bad choices. He's not alone - we thought the Ducks would go all the way, too.

11/19/07 5:07 p.m. An officer was called to a home where an elderly mother was allegedly being thrown out of her house by family members who were trying to scam her for money. The family members went home and the woman's caregiver stayed with her.

11/13/07 10:27 a.m. An unknown person opened a bank account in a local man's name and wrote a check for $980.

11/19/07 9:28 a.m. At the DMV on Monroe Parkway, an employee reported that someone was trying to get an ID using a passport that appears to be altered.
