Members of Lake Oswego Brownie Troop No. 1864 — clockwise from bottom left, Danielle Smith, Clare O’Gara, Carlie Leach, Kenna Sandblast, Camryn Wilson, Mariah Howard, Arianna Spring, Mallory Spring and Soram Kim — are adopting a family for the holidays and hope community members will help.

A major component of the holidays is to think of others -something Lake Oswego Brownie Troop No. 1864 takes to heart.

This year these nine little girls wanted to adopt a family, which they did. Now these enterprising youngsters are going to do what it takes to make sure their 'new' family enjoys the holidays just like they do. The challenging part - how to ensure this family has a wonderful holiday on a budget of zero. The Brownies will canvas their neighborhoods, visit local establishments while also asking for the community's help.

The family of three consists of a mother and her two young sons, ages 12 and 9. Items they need are ladies medium size clothes, boys clothes in size large, two bicycles, bus passes, gloves, scarves and ladies shoes in size 9. The family would also benefit from gift certificates for food, a skateboard and boys shoes in sizes 5 and 9. The actual item(s), gift cards or cash to buy the items are equally appreciated.

All items need to be collected no later than Dec. 14.
