Today, Dec. 6, is the last day to donate turkeys or money to the annual Lake Oswego High School Turkey Drive.

At LOHS, members of the football, soccer and dance teams; cheerleading squad and leadership class will accept donated frozen turkeys at the student drop-off area in front of the school before school (7 to 7:35 a.m.) and during morning break (9 to 9:20 a.m.).

Additionally, frozen turkeys can be dropped off at Lake Oswego Junior High School before school (7:45 to 8:10 a.m.) and after school (2:45 to 3:15 p.m.); and at Forest Hills Elementary School before school (8:45 to 9:10 a.m.) and after school (3:20 to 3:45 p.m.).

Checks and/or cash donations will also be accepted at all locations, and will be used towards the purchase of additional turkeys. Checks can be made out to 'Oregon Food Bank' or 'Safeway.'

The turkeys will be delivered to the Oregon Food Bank for distribution to various hunger-relief agencies and families throughout the metro area in time for the holidays.

Last year, in conjunction with LOJHS and Forest Hills, the LOHS drive brought in about 6,000 pounds of turkey (and cash equivalent). This year, organizers hope to beat that amount.
