Information from the public safety column comes from the records of the Lake Oswego Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:
11/20/07 2:10 p.m. In a hit-and-run accident, a woman said her car was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police found the Jeep, then had the two owners exchange information.
11/21/07 12:36 p.m. A car struck a pedestrian at Fourth Street and B Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to OHSU and the driver was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian.
11/24/07 3:02 p.m. Two cars were involved in an accident on Boones Ferry Road and Jean Way. There were no injuries. One of the drivers was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
11/21/07 3:56 p.m. An iPod and $250 were stolen from a person's locker.
11/23/07 6:48 p.m. A handbag with a wallet were stolen from a black Honda Element parked at the Mountain Park Rec Center. Credit cards and I.D. were also taken. Total value was $800.
11/24/07 4:04 p.m. A home was broken into and $300 in CDs, a lamp and furniture was taken.
11/25/07 9:57 p.m. A woman reported receiving calls from a man who had been told not to call her. Police arrested Christopher Patrick McMahon, 31, for telephonic harassment.
11/20/07 1:07 p.m. A child's bicycle was found lying on the sidewalk on Jean Road. A black lab was standing over it and no one was nearby. When police arrived a mother with two children and the black lab were with the bike.
11/20/07 1:28 p.m. An employee at a downtown business said she was being stalked by a 35-year-old man. He was seen a half-hour earlier wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.
11/20/07 1:28 p.m. Police were contacted by a person who said his co-worker appeared to be drunk and was going to drive home from work.
11/20/07 2:30 p.m. After taking several items to a consignment store, a person complained that the store would not give the items back after they did not sell.
11/20/07 3:05 p.m. A resident on Fielding Road reported an ongoing problem with construction vehicles blocking the person's driveway. The construction crews were contacted and asked to keep their vehicles clear, while they delivered materials to the site.
11/20/07 3:48 p.m. A 15 year old was reportedly threatening a person on Country Club Road.
11/20/07 4:20 p.m. A daughter reported that her mother had opened a cell phone account in the daughter's name without telling her. It's unclear whether she was calling her daughter's friends, as well.
11/20/07 4:35 p.m. A person reported seeing an adult male having sex with a small girl near the railroad tracks near North State Street. The two juveniles were contacted by police. They were just kissing.
11/20/07 8:13 p.m. A mattress was found on Terwilliger Boulevard. An officer moved the mattress off the road and city maintenance crews came to pick it up.
11/20/07 10:34 p.m. A man was seen on Stephanie Court. According to a caller, the man appeared to not belong in the area. The man was in his twenties and had a dark hood over his head.
11/20/07 11:55 p.m. A woman said she was being stalked by a man who had called her 50 times in one week.
11/21/07 3:51 a.m. A prowler was reportedly trying to get into a person's home three nights in a row, through a sliding door. Police did not find anyone around the home or evidence of a break in.
11/21/07 8:04 a.m. A white flatbed truck was blocking a person's driveway on Boones Way for a day, and the caller said he needed the truck moved so he could get to work. The owner lives across the street and moved the truck before police arrived.
11/21/07 9:01 a.m. A Rolls Royce was seen parked in a handicapped space on Meadows Road. The caller said it was a frequent problem. Chances are, the owner of the Rolls could afford the parking ticket.
11/21/07 2:42 p.m. A person named Sierra was sending repeated text messages throughout the night and wouldn't stop when asked, according to the complainant. An officer left a message asking Sierra to stop texting and get a life.
11/21/07 4:45 p.m. A man said he found drug paraphernalia in a parking space on Third Street. He found a soft drink bottle with a straw and aluminum foil around it.
11/21/07 5:22 p.m. A woman said she found a pitbull a few weeks ago and was not able to locate its owner. The white and brown pitbull did not have tags.
11/21/07 11:14 p.m. Police received a report of an elderly person with a scooter who appeared to be lost and confused.
11/22/07 11:21 a.m. Police received a report of a drug pipe, which a resident on A Avenue found in his morning newspaper. Seems like an odd promotion for Black Friday.
11/21/07 11:16 p.m. An officer came across a computer in the middle of the street. A nearby owner was contacted and said he was trying to recycle it - apparently, by having someone run over it.
11/22/07 3:01 a.m. A man said his drunken brother had been thrown out of the Gemini Pub around midnight and hadn't made it to his home in Portland.
11/22/07 9:29 a.m. A dismembered dog was found on a grassy hill. An officer checked and found the dog had been killed by a coyote. There was no collar found.
11/22/07 9:58 a.m. A dog was kidnapped from its yard on Lake Shore Road. The owner said he let the dog out, and three minutes later it was gone. At the time, he said he heard a car start up and leave. Riggs, according to his owner, eventually made his way home.
11/22/07 1:46 p.m. Police received a complaint of a spider that was climbing the drapes. The caller wanted police to remove it. Police found no spider, just a black spot on the curtain. Time for a new set of drapes, and perhaps new spectacles.
11/22/07 11:06 p.m. A man's neighbor came to his home, irate about parking issues. The man told the neighbor to leave three times, and when he finally did the man called 9-1-1. He said he didn't want police to respond, but he did want to document the problem.
11/23/07 9:32 a.m. Outside Lake View Village, the Christmas lights were not on. Police said they would check and make sure they were turned on.
11/23/07 1:45 p.m. A woman was heard yelling that she was shot. Police found that she was shot by her younger brother with an Airsoft gun.
11/23/07 2:02 p.m. A caller complained that his neighbor's bird was coming on to his property.
11/23/07 3:23 p.m. Three men in a Chrysler were believed to be drinking cans of beer. Police found the men and determined that was not the case.
11/23/07 4:51 p.m. A house on Duncan Drive was egged at least four times in the last two weeks, according to a caller.
11/24/07 4:29 a.m. Voices were heard in a person's backyard on Chapman Way. The screen door appeared to have been opened. A man wearing a baseball cap and hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans was seen.
11/24/07 8:57 p.m. A driver on Boones Ferry Road noticed that the railroad crossing arms were stuck in the down position and no train was around. Vehicles were driving around the railroad arms and doing U-turns.
11/25/07 12:05 a.m. Lake Oswego police assisted the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office with a check on a house on Firwood Road, after it was reported that someone was in the house who didn't belong there.
11/25/07 A van was seen on Coho Lane with its door open and a person loading stuff into it. Police contacted the person, who had apparently stopped loading stuff but forgotten to close the van door.
11/25/07 1:55 p.m. There was an ongoing problem with a Jeep that was seen speeding on Deerbrush Avenue. Police contacted the parents, who said they would take care of the speeding child.
11/25/07 4:23 p.m. A woman reported that someone may have been in her house while she was out of town. She said she found a condom wrapper next to her bed. Time to have a chat with the maid.
11/25/07 12:20 p.m. An elderly man's electric cart was stalled and partially near Boones Ferry and Bryant roads.
11/26/07 2:11 p.m. A group of people were allegedly sitting in their backyard on 10th Street smoking marijuana. Police found no marijuana, just the smell from chemicals in the hot tub.
11/27/07 4:59 p.m. A woman told police she was being harassed on the telephone by her ex-husband. Police advised her to use her lawyer for communicating with the ex.
11/27/07 5:33 p.m. A man was selling magazines door-to-door on Laurel Street without a business license. Police caught up with him and he said he would return with the license.
11/27/07 9:12 p.m. A woman said she dropped off a young couple with two kids at a local bus stop about 20 minutes ago. She was worried that the kids were not dressed well enough for the weather and they had no place to go.
11/27/07 11:08 p.m. A man called police to say he had allowed someone to use his home's bathroom, which had his Social Security card in a drawer. He was concerned about identity theft.
11/28/07 1:30 a.m. Police received a report that six to eight people were in a parking lot on Monroe Parkway, ready to duke it out. Police couldn't find them.
11/25/07 2:54 p.m. Wizer's reported that it had received $400 in bad checks from a customer in December 2006.
