At the annual Oregon Peace Officers Association conference, Lake Oswego Police Department Detective Jon Harrington received the Distinguished Service Award for his investigation on the Ottilia and Casper Volk homicides.
In 1980, the two elderly citizens in Lake Oswego were knifed to death in their home. The investigation ground to a halt one year later. Work was periodically done on the case over the years without results.
Three years ago, Harrington became determined to solve the case and linked the suspect to the crime scene based on DNA evidence. In August, a jury pronounced Ryan Lawrence Anthony, 50, guilty of two counts each of felony murder and aggravated murder.
