Marie Morris Byrne

Lake Oswego businesswoman Marie Morris Byrne died Sept. 5, 2007, at her home in Lake Oswego of a heart attack. She was 68.

Mrs. Byrne was born Feb. 20, 1939, to Mary Sloss Whitaker Inge and Joseph Morris in Birmingham, Ala.

She earned a nursing degree from Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing, Mobile, Ala.

She married Gregory William Byrne Sr.; the couple divorced in 1981.

She moved to Cedar Hills area in 1971 and to Lake Oswego in 1976. Mrs. Byrne owned Byrne's Luggage in Portland for more than 20 years before opening Nanny B's Children's Clothing in Lake Oswego in 2003.

Survivors include her children Kathleen Minde of Portland, Gregory 'Bill' Byrne, Jr. of Tualatin, Julianna Rowe of Portland and Elizabeth Hering of Canton, Mich., brother Joseph Morris, Jr., of Metairie, La., and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Dec. 18 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Nanny B's Children's Clothing, 19 S. State St., in Lake Oswego.
