Treatment Options for Arthritis and Joint Pain - Thursday, Dec. 20, 6:30 to 8 p.m. No cost. This resource class will discuss treatment options for degenerative joint disease, including total hip or knee replacement surgery, exercises and medication regimens. To register, call 503-692-2411.

Child Weight Management Program - January - June. Based on the successful Stanford Pediatric Weight Control Program, this proven, long-term weight management program for children promotes healthy eating and exercise habits while decreasing sedentary time. This six-month weekly family based program was created by experts in treating overweight children. Grief Recovery - Mondays, Jan. 7 - Feb. 25, 1 to 2:30 or 7 to 8:30 p.m. Cost: $10. This 8-week class is designed for those who have had a loss three months ago or longer. CPR - Initial Course for Healthcare Providers - Thursday, Jan. 10, 6 to 11:45 p.m. Cost: $60. A course for those that require a card documenting successful completion of a class for healthcare professionals. Learn skills for all ages including ventilation with barrier devices and bag-mask devices, use of an automated external defibrillator, and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. When I'm in Charge - Saturday, Jan. 12, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Cost: $18. Help prepare children, ages 8 to 11 for situations that may occur when they are home alone. Includes role playing, safe responses to phone calls or visitors and suggests positive leisure activities. 503-280-1440.

New Grief Support Group - Providence Newberg Medical Center, St. Paul Conference Room, 1001 Providence Drive. Every first and third Thursday beginning Thursday, Jan. 3, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. A new ongoing support group to help those who are dealing with the loss of a loved one. Powerful Tools for Caregivers - Rosewood Retirement and Assisted Living Facility, Tropicana Room, 2405 S.E. ; Hospice Volunteer Training of Washington County - Jan. 15, 17, 22, 24, 31 and all day Sat., Jan 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A seven-session, 24-hour hospice training course. The classes are taught by healthcare professionals for anyone interested in volunteering their time to care for and support patients and their families during the final stages of a life-limiting illness. Volunteers can help with direct care of patients, bereavement work with families, clerical work in the office, public relations in the community, and planning and guidance work as members of the board of directors.
