Police arrest juveniles suspected in crime spree
Police believe the three youth were involved in a rash of small crimes in the Tower Vista neighborhood of Oregon City
The Oregon City Police Department arrested three juveniles early Thursday morning that they believe are responsible for a two-week rash of vandalism and thefts to cars and homes in the Tower Vista neighborhood.
The department had been receiving reports of break-ins and property damage from the neighborhood, which runs south from the area of the Leland Road and Warner Parrott Road intersection, for the past two weeks. Residents from McCord Road, Pease Road, Windmill Drive, and Hampton Drive reported items stolen out of cars, food stolen out of garages, screens taken off exterior windows and eggs thrown at homes. In each incident officers found that the property stolen included change from vehicle ashtrays, and beer and food items from refrigerators in garages, leading police to suspect juveniles.
At 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 20, a caller reported that several juveniles who appeared to be drunk were walking down Leland Road. They scattered when police responded, and officers were able to locate three of them hiding in the area. After they were detained and interviewed, police determined they were responsible for most of the criminal mischief and theft in the area, and they were lodged at Clackamas County Juvenile Department on charges of minor in possession and breaking curfew. Additional charges of Criminal Mischief and theft are pending.
