Update: Husband charged in Saturday incident
A Southeast Portland woman and man were both stabbed several times Saturday evening in what police say was a domestic violence incident.
Police were called at about 6:05 p.m. to a house in a 5400 block of Southeast 44th Avenue where they found a woman in her 30s, who is thought to be three months pregnant, who had been stabbed several times.
Officers located the woman's husband, also in his 30s, who was suffering from stab wounds. Both were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
On Sunday police announced they have arrested and charged the husband, 34 year-old Brian Nickels, with attempted murder, assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of strangulation.
