King City taking applications for two City Council seats

KING CITY - The City of King City is accepting applications to fill two vacant seats on the City Council. Appointees will be selected to complete terms that expire in January 2009 for the first vacancy and January 2011 for the second.

Applicants must be residents of the City for six consecutive months immediately prior to the date of their appointment to the Council.

Desirable qualifications include experience in city planning activities, working with organizations, voluntary institutions, or on committee or group projects. Applicants should possess a willingness to study, attend workshops, orientation and training sessions and to participate with others in decision making processes.

Councilors are required to attend regular meetings on the first and third Wednesday evenings of each month and other special meetings or workshops as needed. Council members also periodically represent the City on assignments with related government agencies. Candidates should anticipate a time commitment of 15 to 20 hours per month.

It is anticipated new Council members will be sworn in during the late March or early April 2008 council meeting.
