Falcons swing their bats

La Salle Prep's baseball players have been swinging their bats this summer.
Through play Friday, La Salle's top summer team, the Wigwam Sox, sported a .347 team batting average in Junior State Division I play.
Cody Farnes was the top slugger, with 21 hits in 38 at bats, for a .553 batting average.
Three other players had batting averages better than .400: Zach Nusbaum (.463), Austin Vaughn (.448) and Erich Regan (.404). Nusbaum went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double in an 8-7 loss at Hood River last Friday; Farnes went 3-for-4 in a 5-3 loss at David Douglas last Thursday.
Vaughn has a team-leading seven stolen bases out of eight attempts this summer.
The Falcons' top pitchers have been Sean Hays (3-0, 1.72 ERA) and Trey Norton (2-0, 0.87 ERA).
Hays pitched a 2-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a recent 3-2 win over St. Helens.
The Falcons were 14-11 (5-6 in league) through play last weekend.
