Next: The Timbers are on their longest road trip of the season - three games in four days. The closing games are Saturday at Rochester and Sunday at Montreal. Then they'll have 11 days to prepare for a June 30 game at Vancouver.

Notes: How funny - unless you're a fan of the Vancouver Whitecaps - that Portland goalkeeper Josh Saunders was named to the United Soccer Leagues First Division team of the week. Saunders earned the honor after making five saves in a 0-0 tie with Vancouver. Of course, replays showed that one of his saves should have been ruled a goal, as the ball was a couple of feet beyond the goal line when he snatched it back. Saunders has had a solid season, though, posting three shutouts in 10 games, ahead of his pace in three previous Timber seasons; he's finished with six shutouts every time, in 16 games in 2003, 24 games in 2004 and all 28 games in 2005.
