Police suspect gang members in stabbing
Victim was stabbed near the front of his apartment building
A 60-year-old Gresham man is in serious condition after being stabbed in the ribs while trying to break up a fight between gang members.
Two suspected gang members stabbed the victim at about 8:40 p.m. Monday, June 19, near the street in front of the victim's apartment in the 17600 block of Southeast Stark Street, said Officer Grant McCormick, a Gresham Police Department spokesman.
He is being treated at Oregon Health and Science University.
McCormick said the victim's son, a suspected gang member, was fighting with two rival gang members when his father intervened and was stabbed.
Both suspects fled the scene. They are described as being in their late teens to early 20s. Police set up a perimeter and called in a police dog to search for the suspects but failed to find them.
