Portland police have arrested two men in connection with the 1998 shooting death of 19-year-old Rahshann Stone, who police say was trying to distance himself from gang-affiliated associates at the time he was murdered.
Stone was found dead of a single gunshot wound on Feb. 7, 1998, in the 4700 block of Northeast 14th Avenue.
Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau's Cold Case Squad said in a statement Friday that a grand jury has indicted Jason D. Benton, 31, and Deandre D. Moreland, 30, on one count each of murder.
The Cold Case Squad has solved seven homicides since its inception in January 2005, according to the bureau.
The Stone investigation is ongoing.
