Deputies say injured jogger is Bethany woman

Search turns up identification for woman hurt Thursday afternoon

After a day of searching, and with a little help from media reports, Washington County sheriff's deputies were able to identify a woman struck while jogging Thursday afternoon by a vehicle on Northwest Kaiser Road.

The woman is 44-year-old Jennifer Budhabhatti of Bethany. Her family has been notified about her injuries in the accident.

Budhabhatti suffered serious injuries and was taken to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland, where she was in critical condition.

According to deputies, the accident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. on Northwest Kaiser Road near Twin Flower Road. They said Budhabhatti was struck by a sport utility vehicle and was unconscious at the scene of the accident. She also carried no identification, which made it hard for deputies to find her family.

Deputies received several tips about the woman, mainly because of media reports.

She was taken by Life Flight Helicopter to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At this time the driver of the vehicle is not being charged. It appeared that Budhabhatti ran into the path of the vehicle without looking.
