by: Stover E. Harger III

Students of Columbia Christian Martial Arts returned from a Salem tournament Saturday with an armful of trophies.

Instructor William Frye (above left), in the Black Belt division, placed third in sparring, second in forms and first in open forms. His 10-year-old son Caden Frye (above right), in the Intermediate division, placed second in sparring, third in forms and third in open forms. Logan Clark, 10, (above center) in the Advanced division, placed third in sparring, third in forms and third in open forms.

Frye started Columbia Christian Martial Arts earlier this year to teach gospel lessons along with self-defense skills. He and his students have been seen recently participating in community charity events such as the Amani Center Race Against Child Abuse. He operates the classes out of the old church building, and under the guidance of, the Yankton Community Fellowship.
