Whitman College announces local graduates


At its May 21 commencement ceremonies, Whitman College announced the conferring of Bachelor degrees on several students from Inner Southeast Portland.

Dana Pribnow, who graduated from Cleveland High, received her degree in Economics, and was a summa cum laude graduate, receiving honors in major study; she is the daughter of David and Nancy Pribnow. Caitlin Mulrooney-Lyski, also a Cleveland grad, received her degree in English, was a cum laude graduate, and received honors in major study; she is the daughter of Nina Lyski.

Franklin High graduate Katrina Beloof received her degree in Politics, was a magna cum laude graduate, and received honors in major study. She is the daughter of Christine Pieratti and Douglas Beloof. John Carlson graduated cum laude with a degree in Physics; he is also a Franklin High grad.

Lauren DeYoung also received a Bachelor's in English, cum laude; her graduation was from Jesuit High School, but is the daughter of Paul and Daniela DeYoung of Inner Southeast Portland.

Whitman is a private liberal arts and sciences college located in Walla Walla, Washington. The college reports that in the annual rankings published by 'U.S. News and World Report' magazine, it has the highest ranking of any national liberal arts college in the Pacific Northwest.
