'Perfect man' Meaux takes mound for Beavers

Lefty made record books June 9

The Portland Beavers are hoping for exploding bats at 7 p.m. tonight at PGE Park when they take on the Las Vegas 51s, the Los Angeles Dodgers' top affiliate. A fireworks show follows the game.

Left-hander Ryan Meaux, who pitched four innings of Portland's seven-inning perfect game, a 5-0 win at Sacramento on June 9, starts for the Beavers.

Prospect Jared Wells delivered another quality start in Monday's 4-2 loss at Colorado Springs. He allowed four runs (three earned) and five hits in six innings, but fell to 0-2. Luke Carlin hit a two-run homer and, interestingly, has at least one hit in his past 20 road games.

Portland (40-44) also plays Las Vegas on Wednesday and Thursday, both starting at 7 p.m.
