Alexander, Woznuk will play in Nordic Cup
Goalkeeper Cori Alexander and midfielder Angie Woznuk have been named to play for the United States in the Nordic Cup July 16 to 22 in Stavanger, Norway.
The Nordic Cup is the top competition in the world for under-21 women.
Woznuk will be one of the most experienced players on this year's U.S. team, having played in the 2002 and 2004 FIFA under-19 women's world championships. last year, she helped UP to its undefeated season and NCAA Division I title.
Alexander and UCLA's Val Henderson are the two defenders on the Nordic Cup roster. Alexander, who starred in goal last season for the Pilots, made her international debut with the under-21 team during a three-game tour of the Netherlands and Germany April 29 to May 4.
The U.S. will open the Nordic Cup July 16 against Denmark, then face Iceland on July 18 and Norway on July 20 in group play.
The Americans have won eight of the last nine cups, including seven in a row.
