Longtime Gresham resident Mary Kim, 80, died Wednesday, June 21, at a Gresham care facility. No formal services will be held.
She was born June 12, 1926, in Butte, Mont., to Y.H. and Mall (Soon) Kim. She was raised and educated in Butte. In 1943, she moved to Gresham, where she graduated from Gresham High School in 1945.
On Sept. 27, 1947, Mary married Henry Kim. She worked on a berry farm before taking a position at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center, formally known as Gresham Community Hospital. She worked as a diet aide for the hospital for 21 years before she retired in 1988.
Mary enjoyed sewing, baking and meeting her friends at the Polar King for coffee. She also enjoyed spending time with her cat.
In 1985, Mary was preceded in death by her husband. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Park; and sisters, Ruby Regan and Kay Lee.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Hoban of Danville, Calif., and Justine Kim of Portland; son, Gary Kim of Gresham; sisters, Alice Park and May Lafleur, both of Gresham, Nancy Riebe of Beaverton and Helen Ha of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.
