New Yorkers run down by Portlander in Prius

One of the two pedestrians has life-threatening injuries

A woman driving a silver Toyota Prius down Northeast 28th Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday veered onto a sidewalk for several blocks, hitting two pedestrians as she re-entered the road near Northeast Davis street, police say.

The Portland Police Bureau said Saturday that Elizabeth M. Kenny, 26, and her boyfriend, Aaron R. Fishbone, 25, both from Stony Brook, N.Y., were hospitalized after Heather Lynn Quinter, 30, struck them as they crossed Northeast 28th Avenue.

Fishbone was conscious with non-life-threatening head and spinal injuries, Saturday afternoon and Kenny was unconscious with life-threatening injuries. Police said Quinter "did not appear to be under the influence of intoxicants" at the time of the accident.

The bureau is still investigating the incident and are asking witnesses or those with information about the collision to call Portland police.
