Letters to the editor for July 23

Reader appreciates paper's efforts

Bravo to The Outlook for receiving 16 separate awards in the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association 2011 Better Newspaper Contest.

This is a tremendous achievement in an age when journalist revenues are declining during the recession and newspapers are required to do more with less. As an avid reader of newspapers, be they local, regional, national or international, I hold The Outlook in high esteem. I have subscribed to this newspaper since 1975 and have always anxiously awaited my biweekly copy.

I like the idea of local news reports that impact my neighborhood, even my very street.

What is going on now in Afghanistan is of global importance, but when you leave your house tomorrow to enter your own local world of East County, The Outlook is there to keep you informed. To the staff of The Outlook, congratulations on this most prestigious recognition of excellence. Thank you.
