Gresham man stabbed to death in Portland

Police need help with investigation

A Gresham man was stabbed to death in Portland early Saturday, July 23.

At 2:13 a.m., officers with the Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct responded to a report of a man stabbed in the 9300 block of Southeast Schiller Street and found a man suffering from a stab wound lying on the sidewalk, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, Portland police spokesman. Paramedics arrived and determined that the man was dead.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner identified the victim as Marcos A. Ibarra, 20, of Gresham, and determined he died of sharp force injuries.

Detectives are not able to say if Ibarra's death is gang or drug related due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.

At this point there is no suspect information and no arrests have been made. Detectives would like to hear from anyone who has information about Ibarra's death, and/or his activities in the hours leading up to his death.
