Tigard to jump into district play

PORTLAND - The Tigard Little League Majors (ages 11-12) all-star baseball squad will be one of eight teams vying for the title at the District 4 Tournament.

The event starts today (Thursday) and runs through Monday at Alpenrose Dairy, located at 6149 S.W. Shattuck Road.

The Tigard team is one of four teams in Group A for tourney play. The other Group A teams are Beaverton Area, Lake Oswego and Sun Creek.

Group B is made up of Cedar Mill, Forest Grove, Murrayhill and Raleigh Hills.

Tigard opens the tournament today with a 6 p.m. pool play game against Beaverton Area.

Other games today have Cedar Mill playing Forest Grove at 5:15 p.m., Lake Oswego taking on Sun Creek at 5:45 p.m. and Murrayhill playing Raleigh Hills at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Tigard takes on Lake Oswego in a pool play game starting at 5:15 p.m. Also on Friday, Forest Grove plays Raleigh Hills at 5:45 p.m., Cedar Mill takes on Murrayhill at 6 p.m. and Beaverton Area plays Sun Creek at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Tigard concludes pool play with a 12:30 p.m. game against Sun Creek.

Also on Saturday, Beaverton Area plays Lake Oswego at 3 p.m., Cedar Mill plays Raleigh Hills at 5:30 p.m. p.m. and Forest Grove takes on Murrayhill at 8 p.m.

The tournament semifinals will be played on Sunday.

The No. 2 team from Group A plays the No. 1 team from Group B at 4 p.m. and the No. 2 team from Group B plays the No. 1 team from Group A at 6:30 p.m.

The district tournament championship will be played Monday, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The winner of the district tournament advances to play at the state tournament, which will be held in Ashland.
