Officials need help finding poachers

Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division troopers are asking for the public's help identifying the person or people who killed a three-point blacktail deer, leaving it to waste in a field in Damascus.

At about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, Trooper Mark Shoenborn responded to reports of several shots being heard in the area of Southeast 242nd Avenue and Bohna Park Road, said Lt. Gregg Hastings, state police spokesman.

Police found a dead deer in a nearby field. A preliminary investigation indicates the poacher used a small-caliber rifle to kill it.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Trooper Shoenborn at 503 490-4856 or Trooper Chris Boeholt at 971-313-1172.
