Obituary: Charles Joseph Arlint

Gresham resident Charles Joseph Arlint, 85, died Monday, July 10, at his home. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. Interment will follow at Douglass Pioneer Cemetery, S.W. 14th St., Troutdale.
Charles was born April 4, 1921, in Oldsburg, Kan., to Charles and Margaret (Boodenbender) Arlint. He was raised and educated in Marshall County.
He worked on the family farm until he was 21 then moved to Portland to find work in the shipyards during World War II.
He met and married Pearl M. Vandell in January 1943.
They lived in and around Portland and Gresham until they bought a home in Troutdale in 1948.
His wife preceded him in death in 1991.
He left Troutdale in 2003 to live with his son in Gresham.
Charles worked for Reynolds Metals for 27 years, retiring in 1976. He enjoyed watching sports and tinkering in his basement working on small items such as watches.
Survivors include his son, Ronald Arlint of Gresham; sister, Marie Pietz of Marysville, Kan.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
