Travel troubles keep Beavers from Tucson
The team will play two 7-inning games Tuesday night instead
Travel difficulties prevented the Portland Beavers from arriving in Tucson in time to play Monday night. So, the two teams will play two, seven-inning games in Tucson, starting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Erick Burke (3-2, 3.33) , making his sixth career start and first this year, and Roger Deago (2-1, 3.86) will pitch for Portland.
Various mechanical and other issues delayed flights Monday. The Bevos were scheduled to leave Portland International Airport at 8 a.m. Monday, but their flight got delayed until about 2:30 p.m. Another delay on the connecting flight in Phoenix further lengthened their day.
Meanwhile, the parent San Diego Padres have traded pitcher Brian Sikorski to the Cleveland Indians for a right-handed pitcher named Mike Adams, making room for Alan Embree coming back from the disabled list. Sikorski had a 1-1 record and 5.85 ERA in 13 appearances since moving to the Padres on May 31.
