Downtown Gresham was a whirl of activity Saturday, July 15, as local residents browsed through booths of paintings, photographs, jewelry and metal yard art at the city's fifth annual Art Walk.

A number of bands performed throughout the day to set the scene, which was completed by a special children's corner that included a puppet show, story telling and a hands-on crafts area.

Penny Wright said she brought her grandchildren, Marissa and Ethan Wright of Gresham, went to the Art Walk for the fun, the music and the art.

And have fun they did - Penny and Ethan danced to the tunes of the Julie McCarl and Bodacious Toe Tappin' Groovy Gumbo band as they stood near Third Street and Main Avenue.

'It's a good excuse to spend time with the grandkids,' Wright said.

Southeast Portland resident Cathy Holmelund also took in the sights Saturday.

'I've been (to the Gresham Art Walk) before, and they always have great work,' Holmelund said.
